About Ms. Salzmann
Welcome to Room 12. I'm delighted to be teaching second grade at Reed for a fifteenth year.
I grew up in Marin County loving nature, especially the bay, ocean, baseball, and Mount Tam. I'm learning to be a bird watcher in Tiburon, where I've seen several black-crowned night herons, great blue herons, and green herons, to name just a few of the amazing animals (river otters, foxes, and coyotes) and birds spotted nearby. I am an avid reader and swimmer.
I attended the University of California at Riverside where I received a BA in English, and completed my fifth year in education for a California Teaching Credential. I completed a sixth year, focusing on Reading instruction, at Sonoma State University. I taught for many years at the Twin Hills District in Sebastopol, as well as in upstate New York.
My teaching includes small group, whole group, and individual instruction. While teaching academic skills, I emphasize positive classroom behaviors, including working with character pillars during class meetings and discussion. Writer's Workshop includes writing for science and critical thinking.
