Introducing…FRIDAY Interest Sharing
Friday Interest Sharing Begins after the Winter Break!
What?
An exciting way for each child to share an interest and practice speaking skills! As children practice these skills, we'll learn more about each classmate!
Who?
4-5 children are selected each week.
When?
Every Friday! Refer to our website for the ongoing schedule.
How?
Your child should choose an interest, something he/she knows about or would like to learn more about, and wants to share with the class. The choices are endless!
Topic ideas: a hobby, sport, favorite food, book, poet, place of interest, talent, geographical location, famous person, current event, etc.
Your child should prepare a brief sharing about that topic.
Ideas to include in the sharing: fun facts about the topic, history of the topic, why the topic was chosen, and more. Children find it helpful to practice at home with you. Index cards or lists are helpful, as are poster boards or other displays, (eg. dioramas) that help focus the presentation. Some children share video, but should be involved in the video-making process.
Expectations:
Sharing should be about 5 minutes
Children should be knowledgeable about their interests, make eye contact with the audiences, and speak in a clear, understandable voice.
Children can bring in any visuals (poster, props, dvds, etc.) or audio (CD, instruments, etc.) that will enhance the presentation.
Please have your child practice each sharing before bringing it to class.
Parent involvement should be minimal. Help children gather/organize materials and be a practice audience.
